The Shippey “Tone” Octave mandolin (often called ‘octave mandola’) is usually tuned a full octave below a standard mandolin. My standard scale length is 580mm (23″) and is great for both melody and chord playing. It has a carved spruce top and carved Sycamore or maple back and is powerful and resonant.

"Artist" 10-string mandolin . A unique large body design, the "Artist" is voiced more like a mandola in the low register, but maintains a bright top end. Usually tuned CGDAE (low to high) Scale length is similar to eight string mandolins at: 365mm (14.4")
